Haldi or Turmeric


Today's herb is the one which gives color to the food.... can u name it... yes i am talking about TURMERIC .

Its Latin name is Curcuma longa, also called as haldi in hindi and haridra in sanskrit. It has been explained in detail in ayurvedic texts and has various healing properties. The rhizome is aromatic, stimulant and tonic. Its useful in relieving flatulence and has antiseptic properties.

In intestinal disorders, the dry powder or juice of rhizome mixed with butter milk or plain water is highly beneficial especially in chronic diarrhea.
20 drops of juice of raw turmeric , mixed with the pinch of salt, taken first thing in the morning is very effective remedy for expelling worms.
As turmeric is rich in iron, its quite useful in anemia. A tsp of raw turmeric juice mixed with honey is taken in this condition.
Its also an effective remedy for bronchial asthma. A tsp of turmeric powder with a glass of milk twice or thrice daily is very effective(acts best on empty stomach).

Turmeric with its antiseptic properties , is an effective remedy for chronic cough and throat irritations. half tsp of turmeric powder mixed in 30 ml of warm milk is very beneficial.In case of running cold, smoke from burning turmeric can be inhaled. It increases the discharge from the nose and brings quick relief.

For treating sprains and swelling caused by sprains, turmeric paste mixed with lime and salt can be applied .

In skin disorders, juice of raw turmeric is externally applied to the affected part. Simultaneously turmeric juice mixed with honey should be taken orally.

This is how this one single herb cures no. of diseases..its a miracle.. isn't it???
